About Light Roast Comics

Hi! My name is Michael, and you've found my online webcomics, which I started drawing in 2018.

I handmade this page and all of the comics on it, so it will affect me on a very personal level if you don't have at least a little bit of fun while you're here.

If you have any questions about how I create the comics or how I built this page, check out the FAQ's below, or feel free to send me a message if you don't find what you're looking for.

  • January - April 2018: Mouse ($0) & Affinity Designer ($50)
  • April 2018 - July 2018: Wacom Intuos ($50) & Affinity Designer
  • July 2018 - May 2019: Wacom Intuos & Clip Studio Paint ($0)
  • May 2019 - Current: iPad ($600) & Procreate ($10)

If you're asking this because you'd like to start drawing comics yourself, the best advice I have is to not overthink it. Just start drawing your ideas and find a few places (reddit & imgur are sometimes brutal but good starting points) to post them. If you think you're bad at drawing, you are not worse than I was when I started. I started posting every comic on Reddit at r/comics and r/webcomics, as well as on imgur. The feedback I got there really helped me know how I could improve, and it helped me build a bit of an audience on more follower-based platforms like Instagram and Webtoon.

Wanted to answer this one once and for all, since I'm a little tired of hearing it. The secret is all the animal sacrifices I make.
